She still won't walk!

I know she can do it. She knows how. But she is just so not confident enough to walk by herself. If you let her go, she will either stand there with her hand up yelling or crying for you to come hold on to her or she will fall to her knees and start crawling. It is so frustrating. Every once in a while we can get her going and she does great, but 5 or 10 minutes later, it's back to being scared. I just wish she would learn already!!! I know, I know, it takes patience. And it's nice when we're out that I can hold on to her hand. She's 13 and a half months already, she should be able to walk on her own! Sigh...

Her other latest trick is messing up her hair. Not just getting it all crazy, but waiting until she has some kind of gunk on her hands and then running it all through her hair. She put alfredo sauce in her hair at the Cheesecake Factory on Monday and then yesterday she got grease from the two french fries we gave her. I am sick of carrying around this greasy messy child all over the place. Call me crazy, but I refuse to take her out of the house unless she looks clean. I've seen other babies with dirty clothes or dirty faces and it just makes me sad. The way Natalie looks when we go out is a reflection of me I think, and I don't want people to think that I never bathe her, you know? Which is why this new habit is making me want to crawl out of my skin. Once we hit the restaurant, or even just give her a snack, anything where she might get crumbs or sauce or something on her hands, then it's straight back home and we can't go anywhere again until she's had a bath. Am I just being too anal? I myself won't go out of the house unless I've had a shower. Am I just reflecting my own issues onto her? Oh well, I am the way I am. I wish there was a way to stop her from doing it though. She cries and gets fussy if I try to stop her and as soon as my hands leave her she's right back at it. It's pretty much impossible. I hope it's just a phase and she grows out of it soon!
