Old Blog Entry 01-10-06

All moved in!

Well, it is now starting week number 2 in the new house. It's been an interesting week, let me tell you. The day after we finished moving everything in, we finally headed out to stay there. The first thing we noticed was that the heater didn't work. There was no power to the thermostat. So out I went to buy some space heaters. Got back, plugged in the space heater and we found out that half the outlets didn't work! None of the bathroom outlets and only one of the living room outlets. Good thing we had extension cords! We had to keep Natalie's crib in our room because it was the warmest in the house. It didn't help that that weekend was probably the coldest of the whole year, and it was a holiday weekend so we had no one to come fix it until Tuesday. The builders spent all day Tuesday trying to fix it, and they couldn't. Finally Tuesday night the customer service guy that I had been bugging all day came with a heavy duty extension cord and plugged the heating unit into one of the hallway outlets. That night we had heat!!! The next day the electrician came and fixed the outlets, and the heater. Turns out they had wired the heating unit into the same circuit as the bathrooms, which kept that circuit tripped, since it couldn't handle the energy draw. Now the only thing left to fix is the cabinets, as they had a problem with the cabinet company. They are supposed to be out on Friday. We ordered our window coverings, so those should be in after a week or two. There are still a TON of boxes to go through and our garage is full of things to move into the house. We also have no phone service yet. It was supposed to be turned on yesterday, but they had some sort of problem with the cables so it might be on today or tomorrow or whenever. Then we have 3 to 10 days before we get DSL(though we might still be able to use dial-up). Today I made the drive back to MIL's house, because I was dying over there! LoL I couldn't stand being away anymore. :o) I have some pictures, but I'll have to upload them in a bit because the camera is downstairs, as is the computer that I have to use to take them off the camera. I just wanted to check in and let you all know how things are going. I hope you guys didn't miss me too much, though I really missed you all! I hope to be back soon, through dial-up or maybe this weekend if we come back here. I am off to browse the forums and surf for a bit. :o)
