I got this sewing machine for Christmas almost two years ago. Other than setting it up once, but never actually sewing anything, it's been unused since then. Wait, my neighbor borrowed it for a few days earlier this year. But other than that, unused. I also bought a bunch of fabric, and had a ton of intentions of making things. Those intentions? Also unused. Well, no more!! I finally set it up, got it strung up and manage to create some really cute things! If you look close enough you'll see sloppy sewing work and anyone who's ever picked up a needle and thread before would cringe at the lack of technique, but hey, I'm learning on my own here. I did take a sewing class in junior high(thanks Mrs. Carlson!), but that's about it.
I had originally had an idea to make stuffed shapes, you know to help kids learn about shapes. My triangle turned out a little lumpy, but it's cute nonetheless. Yes, I know it looks like a pumpkin, but the orange fabric was on sale as a remnant and the green ribbon was what I grabbed first out of the bag. It actually has turned out better than my later attempts, but not exactly what I had invisioned. Natalie calls triangles "triangolos" so this is a triangolo.
Then I just went crazy and cut some shapes out and stitched them together. This is what came of that. It's not quite a cat, but not quite anything else either.

I admit it, when dreaming up this stuffed anima creating idea, I had envisioned Natalie falling in love with these creatures and finally showing a love for stuffed animals that has been entirely lacking in her so far. She was the one who kept bugging me to make them, after all. She loved it for the first few hours, but then the luster wore off and it's been tossed aside. For someone who loves stuffed animals more than any grown person should, I am heartbroken that my daughter seems so uninterested in them. I had hoped that a stuffed animal made with love just for her by her own mother would stir something in her, but no. There goes another dream down the tubes.
Then this morning, I got inspired. Maybe if I made her something soft and girly and pink, she would love it. Maybe the triangle was just too eclectic for her taste. So I got to work and made the cutest and softest bunny, with pink ears and belly. How could she not love it? She waited very impatiently for me to be done, so I had some hope. She loved it for a little while. But unfortunately, I made it in white chenille. What was I thinking? After wiping yellow crayon off off of it, it now resides on top of the piano.

One of these days I'll just have to accept that my daughter is not crazy about stuffed animals. Until then, I'll just keep making them, and maybe one day I'll make one so unbelievably cute, she'll HAVE to love it.

I laughed at the title of the post. Those are adorable! I'm partial to bunnies, most definitely.
I love the bunny the best!!! Great job.
I think they're totally cute!
You are SEW cool! I think they're adorable. Save them for Natalie. One day she'll appreciate them and (hopefully) develop a love for stuffed things :)
They look great VERY unique!! I say keep putting them on her bed and she will learn to love stuffed animals! :)
